LETTER ONE

An Open Letter to My Dear Anonymous.

3-minute read

This Actually Happened on Oct 22, 2026.

CPA as my witness.

My Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for your generosity.

Seriously,

How did you know

what we needed?

Your timing seems divine.

I was literally
just expressing my heart's concerns
before the Lord of Hosts:

God, I can barely express our continued gratitude to our monthly donors for the security of income they provide every month.

God, I don't have the time to create the newsletter that shows our friends the fruit of their investment in real people's lives and stories.

God, why are one-time gifts down? Is this thing over? Have I lost people's confidence or trust?

Have you, Oh God, forgotten me?

Will you remind me of your faithfulness?

Help!

God, did you hear the conversation I was having about the anxiety associated with the "end-of-year ask"?

ARGH. It still feels so counter-relational.

It's awkward. It feels weird to me.

That was my prayer life last night!

No joke.
 No exaggeration.

Then, my dear Anonymous,

I woke up with a donation in my inbox
from you for $2,500!

And my morning conversation with God
looked so different.

My God, you actually heard my cry!

My God, YOU ARE my Provider and Lifter of my head.

You've got us!

Yet again, You've got us!

You actually still believe in this crazy Free Range mission!

So, back to you, my dear Anonymous.

It's as if…

You and God actually talk about the stewardship
of His heart and Kingdom.

What's it feel like on your end?

To be prompted to invest in the mission
of The Free Range Pastor out of nowhere?

To hear the voice of charity and respond—
unprompted by anything other than your relationship
with the all-knowing God?

Well, from my perspective,
in my doubt and disbelief,

I'm amazed yet again.

This experience of need and provision
has become a recurring reality
over the past four years.

God's listening ear.

His people's generosity.

The mission keeps moving.

The bills keep getting paid.

It's kinda unreal.

Heaven-come-to-earth kinda stuff!

Which leaves me wondering something
about you, Anonymous.

What made you do it?

Your affectionate Shepherd,

Ken

ANONYMOUS OR NOT…

From now through the end of the year,
every dollar helps us finish 2026 strong
and send The Free Range Pastor into 2027
ready for whatever comes next.

Currently, we need new monthly
supporters at every level—

from $10 to $500+ and everywhere in between.

Every recurring gift is significant.

And we need one-time & annual gifts
to help make up the difference.

So, if you believe in this mission and are able—

would you consider:

Joining us monthly?

Making a gift this month?

Or helping us close the gap
before the end of the year?

Big or small, every gift matters.

Every gift makes the next "It's paid for" possible.

And if you're tempted to think, They don't need my gift…

Stop it.

WAIT: Don't Stop it.

We need it. Please and thank you.
